Calling All Wrappers! Calling All Wrappers!

Because we’ve already begun to receive donations from local merchants and
friends, we would like to get started assembling the baskets and wrapping
them in cellophane with tulle-ribbon bows. We have hundreds of baskets to
wrap and need your help to get them ready to show on April 2.

We’d like to accommodate the most number of volunteers, so we’ll be
wrapping on weeknights and after school. All wrapping will be done in the
school cafeteria. You don’t have to be artistic, just willing to help. We
usually work in teams of two, and there are plenty of experienced wrappers
to help out the novices. It’s a great opportunity to join together as a
community and pitch in to help our children and our school.
So please come when you can. Many hands make light work, and the
greater the turn-out, the faster we’ll finish. Hope to see you there!

Your Support of our Ad Journal Can Really Make a Difference!

Basket Bonanza is so successful because it makes money from a number of different sources, such as basket raffle tickets, 50/50 raffle tickets, and a portion of the admission fee.  Another major source of revenue is the event Ad Journal provided to each attendee.  In some years, the journal has made an additional $2,500 for the school because between 80 – 90% of the advertising donations go to the bottom line.

We ask local businesses, parishioners and friends to advertise their business or send best wishes to the school through the ad journal.  If you frequent a local restaurant or business or know a business owner, please ask them to consider taking an ad.

School families are also welcome to purchase ads to promote a business or send encouraging words to their children, teachers or the school.  In addition, there is a Patron Listing category.  For $5, parishioners and friends of the school can have their name listed as supporters of Pope John.

For school families, Patron Listings are offered at a discount – only $3 each!  If each school family took two patron listings, we’d have enough to pay for the printing of the ad journal, and all other advertising money would be 100% profit for our school.  Please consider taking one and asking grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends to also show their support.  An order form is attached and additional forms are available in the school office.

As in the past, each class at Pope John will show its support of Basket Bonanza by designing its own full-page ad in the Ad Journal.  Teachers and students will work together to create an ad that expresses the unique character of their class, including artwork and the name of each student.

Thanks for your continued support!
