Philosophy

Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy is a diverse religious and academic community, dedicated to cultivating an environment that promotes spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional, cultural and physical growth in our students.

Each aspect of our school is rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Our faculty, students, and parents are all encouraged to participate in prayer, liturgies, the sacraments, and Christian service as a unified community. Academically, we strive to provide effective instruction and programs based on the Newark Archdiocese's standards of education. All possible efforts are made to nurture each student's needs in a positive and caring environment.

Each student at Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy has a unique path in education. We provide our students with diversified instruction that facilitates their growth as Christians. Catholic values and teachings are integrated into lessons and procedures, allowing students to develop spiritually. Intellectually, our students experience a variety of subjects and stules, designed to involve all students as individuals. Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy students are given the opportunity to blossom at their own pace on a personal, social, and physical level. We have crafted a safe loving community that accepts and celebrates all of these changes.

Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy operated within a structure set forth by the Board of Pastors and the Principal who are committed to Catholic education. The faculty consists of people who subscribe to the school's philosophy and are willing to do all that is necessary to realize the goals contained within it. Teachers are expected to be efficient planners and facilitators of a stimulating learning environment. In addition, teachers must model Christian witness and behavior through their faith commitment. Each teacher brings to the classroom individual strategies of teaching that must be flexible enough to change according to the nature of the class and the students who comprise it. Because the education of a child is a fluid process, the staff meets regularly to strengthen its policies and procedures. Working together, we are able to build upon a set of ideals that permeate all aspects of the school.

In order to accomplish our objectives, it is necessary for the school to build strong and lasting relationships. The influence of Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy stretches beyond the classroom walls. It is present in our liturgies, meetings, special events and extra curricular activities. A mutually supportive relationship exists between teacher and parent. Teachers are willing to listen and discuss a student's school work, progress, or social behavior with the parents so effective communication exists between school and home. The Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy community is one in which students are respectful toward one another. Students are encouraged to be supportive of each other and to treat each other with dignity. Parents, students and faculty share experiences and responsibilities; to support and encourage each other in our paths as Christians. Together, we are able to achieve our philosophy and help it continue for generations to come.

Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
