Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy - 02-07-2011
Good Morning,
Today I visited the Kindergarten class to see the children demonstrate their time telling skills! First they made an analog clock on the floor using a hoola hoop, notecards, and construction paper clock hands. Then the teacher called on each child to move the clock hands to show a specific time. I was so impressed as each child correctly showed the time called by the teacher. Did you know that "o'clock" means "of the clock"? Our Kindergarteners know that!
I also visited the First Graders for a review lesson on money. It was fun to watch them count pennies and nickels and put the answers on a chart. I was happy to see that they knew not only that Abraham Lincoln's head is on the penny but also that he was our 16th president and that his birthday is Saturday. They knew that Thomas Jefferson's head is on the nickel, and that he was our third president, too. What a great day at BPJ!
