Good Evening,

Congratulations to our school Spelling Bee champion, Esther Joy Boyle.  We had 25 students from Third Grade to Eighth Grade vying for this title.  The whole school watched the spelling match and we were impressed with the spelling skills of all contestants. We wish Esther Joy good luck as she moves to compete at the next level.  We are proud that she is representing our school.  We also thank Mrs.McNamara and the Talented and Gifted classes for sponsoring this event.

Today I visited some of our music classes to see the students having their first guitar lessons in the new year.  It was good to see everyone having such a rockin' good time!  I also enjoyed watching the Eighth Graders solve quadratic equations in their math class.  It seems like only yesterday I was watching those same students practice counting by 2's in Kindergarten!

This may surprise you, but I have already begun planning for next year.  I am very excited about two new after school activities that I have scheduled:  Aviation and Golf.  I think our students will enjoy learning about the principles of aerodynamics and in the process, making different kinds of airplanes.  Introducing a lifetime sport such as golf is a plus for any school, so I am especially happy that we will be providing this program at Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy.

Today is wacky clothes day at BPJ!  Kudos to our Student Council for coming up with this idea.  I especially love the two different shoes look!

Congratulations to our Forensic Team for their efforts at the Meet yesterday.  We had two Finalists:  Courtney and Philippe and two Trophy Winners:  Lily and Brantley.  Great job, BPJ Students!  A shout out of thanks goes to the Forensic Faculty Sponsors, Mr. Aymar, Mrs. Shea and Mrs. Chandler.  I am looking forward to their next competition in May.

Pumpkin Patch is almost here.  I am looking forward to our expanded fun fair which will be open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. on Saturday, October 23rd.  I hope to see you there!

I just had to post a weekend entry to congratulate our Pope John Cardinals Soccer Team for their 2-0 win over Saint Cassians at our first soccer game of the season.  Goals were scored by Jide and Zamier and our whole team played a strong defense to garner the win for Blessed Pope John XXIII Academy.  We send a big shout out of thanks to Seton Hall Prep for so graciously offering us their JV field  to use as our home field.  Have a great weekend!
